The July muscat variety was created in Hungary from the crossing of Bronnerstraube x Muscat otonel varieties. Matijas Janos performed the crossing. He gave the seeds to Shtak Adolf from the town of Bekescaba, who grow the seedlings and made a selection within them. It is believed that the variety originated in 1890. It is early table variety.
