Burre Hardy pear is originally from France, where it was produced in 1830 from the seeds of an unknown pear in Boulogne-sur-Mer. It was named in memory of Hardy, the manager of the gardens in Luxembourg near Paris. It is distributed throughout Europe and America.

Plod The fruit is large, bell-shaped, asymmetrical. It is greenish-yellow in color with a rusty coating.
