Synonyms:

Due to its intense green color and characteristic aroma, this apple is synonymous with “green apple”. The variety was created in Australia in 1868, and the creator of the variety was Maria Ann Smith, after whom it was named. The parents are thought to be Malus pumila x Malus sylvestris. Because of its vigorous growth, today this variety is often replaced by its less vigorous clone Granny Smith Spur.
