The Bing variety originated in Oregon, America. It was created as a result of self-pollination of wild cherry, that is, a population of wild cherry that grew in Oregon in 1875 and was known as Black Republican cherry. Variety was found by Seth Lewelling and his assistant Ah Bing. It has been in production since 1899. In the later period, this variety of sweet cherry was very popular in America.
