The Loch Ness blackberry variety was created in Scotland in 1990 by Dr. Derek Jennings at the Scottish Crop Research Institute (now the James Hutton Institute) in Dundee. It is thornless variety. It is characterized by a long harvest time. It can be used for both consumption and industrial processing. A leaf can be used for preparing tea from this variety.
