Synonyms: Stenley

The Stanley plum variety originated in America. At the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, it was created by crossing the Agen variety and the large-fruited English variety Grand Duke. Crossing was done in 1912, seeds were planted in 1913, and the first plum seedlings were put on the market in 1926. The breeder who created the Stanley plum variety was called Richard Wellong. It is very widespread in the world because of the fruits that can be used for different purposes. It is tolerant to the Plum pox  virus.
