Synonyms:

The Summit variety originated in Canada. At the same Summerland institute, the Stella, Van, and Sunburst varieties were planted. It was named after that institute. It was created by crossing Van x Sam varieties in 1957, and was put into production in 1973. This variety was also created by dr. K.O. Lapins.
