The Prokupac grape variety is an autochthonous Balkan variety. According to the natural classification, it belongs to convarietas pontica, subconvarietas balcanica. Apart from our country, it is also found in Bulgaria. It used to be grown without a support. It is excellent when blended with the Vranac variety.

Stablo The variety is vigorous with upright shoots. Gives high yields. It has very yielding lower buds, so short pruning suits it.

Plod The cluster is medium-large, 150-200 g, cylindrical-conical, medium compact. The berries are medium-sized, round to slightly flattened, dark blue in color with a thick skin and a lot of ash.
Ukus Prokupac produces harmonious, drinkable, light red wines with a neutral aroma. When mixed with a well-colored variety, it produces excellent red wines. It is also widely used for the production of rosé or rosé type wines, where the intensity of the color is regulated by the length of maceration.
